Harmer Johnson, AAA
From 1961 to present Mr. Johnson has specialized in African, Oceanic, Pre-Columbian, Native American Art, ancient art of the Near East, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Olympic Games Medallic Art. He is involved in extensive projects throughout the Americas, Europe, Near East, Africa, and Australia.
 
From 1961-1973, he served as appraiser, cataloguer, officer, and auctioneer at Sotheby's, London and New York; Since then, he has consulted for Christie’s and currently consults for Sotheby's, and Doyle New York.  He has auctioneered for Spinks, London, and Channing Santa Fe and New York, and continues to auctioneer for Illustration House New York, Poster Auctions International New York, Kestenbaum & Company New York, Shannon's Milford, CT, and Stack's New York.  Additionally, from 1975 – present he has served as President of Harmer Johnson Books.
 
Mr. Johnson has been the Past President and Board Member, of the Appraisers Association of America; a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors; an Honorary Life Member of the American Numismatic Society; a Life Member of the International Society of Olympic Historians; and serves on numerous vetting committees including The International Asian Art Fair, New York, The New York International Tribal Antiques Fair, and The Winter Antiques Show, New York.
 
Mr. Johnson is also author of “Guide to the Arts of the Americas: Pre-Columbian, American Indian”, Rizzoli, New York, NY, 1992 (“Arte Primitivo Americana”, Fabbri Editori, Verona, Italy, 1992); and “Auction Block”, American Indian Art Magazine, Scottsdale, AZ.
